ORANGEVILLE, IL- Severe thunderstorms hit the Southwestern Wisconsin and Northwestern Illinois region during the evening on April 7th, 2020. Among towns hardest hit by this sudden storm were Monroe, WI and Orangeville, IL.
While the storm only lasted 10 minutes in most areas, many residents saw several thousand dollars worth of property damage due to golf-ball and baseball sized hail that accompanied the thunderstorm.
Homes in the affected area now need significant repairs to roofs, siding, and windows.

So, how did solar panels hold up?
Late Tuesday night, the Koch family (Orangeville residents) gave Stateline Solar the following testimonial:
“We had hail for about 10 minutes tonight and not small hail but a lot of it between golf-ball size and baseball size. Although we sustained multiple 1000’s of dollars damage to our house and a car parked outside will likely be totaled, there is no visible damage to the solar panels, and after the hail, all panels were back on and appear to be working properly. Only damage to the system is the hail knocked out some of the plastic end-caps on the rails the panels mount to. Very impressed and very happy with our solar system.” —Terry Koch
Following the severe storm, Stateline Solar’s technicians inspected the system to ensure there was no internal damage to the panels.
Solar panels are often lab tested to withstand severe weather like hail, heavy snow, ice, and strong winds. To see these results apply during real, Midwestern severe storms can bring solar customers peace of mind.
If damage is ever suspected to occur, Stateline Solar can quickly assess the repairs needed to bring your panels back to a fully-functioning capacity, even if the repairs are purely aesthetic.
