The residential solar market in the United States hit a new high in the third quarter of 2019. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the U.S. solar market added 2.6 gigawatts of solar provoltaics. This increase in total solar energy was boosted by the residential installations in 2019.

While industry experts feared the ongoing trade war with China would negatively affect the solar industry, solar installations were unmoved by tariffs in place. This report made it clear that Americans are continuing to explore clean and efficient energy methods.

Paired with incentives, tax breaks, and the booming solar market, customers are finding the option to switch to solar enticing. Overall, the U.S. residential solar market grew 8% from 2018, and the state of Illinois shot up to rank 21 in terms of solar energy (up from 33rd place in 2017). This momentum is expected to continue well into 2020.
